International students are required to have a valid Co-op Work Permit to go on a work term.
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requires a Letter of Support from CESL to apply for the Co-op Work Permit. Due to lengthy processing times with IRCC, International students must have applied for a permit at least seven months prior to the start of their Co-op Work Term. No Exceptions! (You will need to attach your work permit when you submit your application to the Co-op program.)
Co-op applications open at the beginning of the semester prior to your desired Work Term. The Co-op office writes Co-op Work Permit support letters 3-6 months prior to when students apply for their Co-op Work Term to ensure enough time for the permit to be approved. The deadlines to request your support letter and apply for your permit are:
- Spring/Summer Work Term: October 10th
- Fall Work Term: February 10th
- Winter Work Term: June 10th
Visa Application Workshops are offered by UR International all year. Please check UR International's Events Calendar for more information.
